This is a great book. Their points expand upon what I have recommended as Coach: Do Not Play in my Success With People system (and book). I recommend the book, just be prepared to scan at certain times because it seems they could have made many points in fewer words.

I found the authors' blend of stories, research and theory to be very helpful. Made me think about what I could do to be a better mentor to others, as well as actively choosing & working with mentors more effectively myself. Contrary to the popular conceptions about mentoring, it really dramatizes the importance of taking responsibility for yourself as a mentee, not expecting the mentor to find or "take care" of you but rather doing what you can to make the relationship valuable, and enjoyable, to both of you. Anyone who reads this should take away great information that will help make them much more successful on both sides of the mentoring fence.

Excellent read as a second book for mentoring. Need to understand the basics first.

This book has the right tools at the right time. Great tips and techniques for trainers and especially those who are focused on the diversity initiatives in their organizations. The stories are compelling and relevant. There is information and tips that can be applied - right now. I found this book to be inspiring as well as entertaining and it is very helpful in coaching managers in their careers.

This book is a must have! The mentoring relationships described are so vivid and so compelling. This well researched book compels you to find a mentor if you don't already have an established relationship, and to prioritize this on the top of your "to do" list. It is one of the best books on the topic I have ever read. I couldn't put the book down...
