Mentoring Leaders is truly a guide for pastors, mentors, leaders and disciples. Pue gives informative information on the concepts of wisdom for developing character, calling, and competency in ministry from start of leadership to continuation. Also outlined within the book is helpful advice and suggestions when faced with adversities, to having a balanced life within the ministry. Pue points out important concepts about mentoring that in my opinion, carved the framework of my understanding of Mentoring. These concepts being: how important it is to recognize that leadership and mentoring is an ongoing process, how very important it is that we as leaders and mentors must be able to see beyond the immediate to God’s desired future of an individual, and that Mentoring begins with the leader/mentor.
Pue also brings to our attention things mentors/leaders must be aware of in the different phases of Mentoring – warning signs, if you will. Mentoring Leaders is a great book to reflect back on when you as a leader find ourself faced with challenges. Pue makes clear that there are two major questions that must be answered in relation to the Christian growth process. They are: Where do we perceive our relationship with God and where is God in our life?
There is a wealth of knowledge within these pages that will take any leader/mentor beyond their leadership needs.

Drawing on years of experience as a mentor, mentee, and as head of Arrow Leadership’s matching system for leadership mentoring, Carson has written a book choc-full of insight and advice for mentors and their mentees alike. Solidly grounded in the North American Evangelical community, the book is instructive and packed with personal insights gleaned over years of experience as a leader, father, husband, and son. Personal reflections from his son Jason, his wife, and others round out the presentation in an engaging fashion.
